Worn Archive
Worn’s projects all contribute to the Worn Archive: an ongoing collection of people’s clothing stories and experiences. The clothing chronicles we collect range from stories of the mundane everyday act of dressing to the complex and ever-changing relationship between clothing, identity and society.

For us, this valuable archive is a storytelling repository, rich research resource and way of sharing the stories of our community. Representing a diversity of real people, practices and topics, the Worn Archive’s stories come together to inspire and inform what we do at Worn and offer insight that can change the way we produce, use and value clothes.

With collaboration and knowledge sharing as a key focus, these workshops are dedicated to advancing the practice of Zero Waste Fashion Design within the local African context by offering circular solutions in design and garment making.

Details of a modular shirt, designed and produced by Worn co-founder Morag Seaton for the UKRI Interdisciplinary Textiles Circularity Centre (TCC) at the Royal College of Art and exhibited at ‘The Regenerative Hub’, the Lab E20. This configurable shirt has been constructed from multiple modular pieces that can be built by the wearer. This garment now sits within a body of research and sustainable works exploring new experience design for citizen participation in a circular economy.

The research for this modular shirt platform began with a dive into the Worn Archive, drawing from workshops, conversations and interviews that mentioned the diverse experiences of wearing, washing, buying and borrowing shirts.
